Summerville, S.C. – June 3, 2021 – Today, Sharbell Development Corp. celebrated the formal groundbreaking of Downtown Nexton, an urban-inspired mixed-use development serving the growing number of residents in Nexton and the surrounding region. The event was attended by key stakeholders, partners and elected officials including Summerville Mayor Ricky Waring, members of the Berkeley County and Summerville City Councils and executives from Sharbell, Newland, Seamon Whiteside, Nelson Mullins, McMillan Pazdan Smith, The Middleton Group, Choate Construction Co., Landmark Construction Company, CBRE Charleston, Bridge Commercial, 505 Design, BIHL Engineering, The Insight Group, GPA Land Surveyors, and SCS Engineers.
“We are excited to formally break ground on Downtown Nexton and look forward to providing the region’s growth corridor with a mixed-use, walkable destination,” said Sharbell Development Corporation’s President Thomas Troy. “The community’s innovative design and variety of offerings will add to the fabric of an already excellent destination, and we are grateful to our many partners for helping bring Downtown Nexton to life.”
Situated on nearly 100 acres between Sigma Drive and Brighton Park Boulevard, Downtown Nexton will provide retail, dining, hospitality, residential, service, office and commercial options within walking distance of many of Nexton’s residential neighborhoods. The first of the multi-phase project is expected to be completed in 2022 and will include multifamily residences, a mixed-use building with loft apartments above ground-level retail and several outparcels.
